Eric Rosenfeld

Armed with an MIT degree in Electrical Engineering and a relentless curiosity, Eric Rosenfeld launched his career at Bose Corporation, where he spearheaded the creation of computer-based measuring systems with a focus on signal processing.  Working alongside his close colleague Calvin Rose, Eric found joy in using computers to decode real-world signals - an experience that planted the seeds for something much bigger.

By 2004, Eric and Calvin began envisioning a company that could challenge conventional wisdom in investing. Eric had always been skeptical of traditional approaches, especially as someone with a personal stake in retirement planning.  He decided to put his expertise to work, questioning the status quo and seeking a better way.  Eric’s philosophy is rooted in the scientific method.  “Science can’t prove a theory true,” he often says, “but it can prove one false.”  For nearly 15 years, he and Calvin built and tested simulators designed to explore investment strategies.  Their findings were groundbreaking: they discovered major flaws in the Modern Portfolio Theory, the bedrock of traditional investing, which claims you can’t beat the market - only allocate resources intelligently.  Their research not only disproved this idea but also revealed that certain strategies consistently outperformed others.  It was a watershed moment for Eric, who realized they were on to something real and revolutionary.

Eric’s insights were put to the test in 2007 when he noticed unsettling patterns in the market.  Trusting his instincts and data, he pulled his investments out - just in time to sidestep the chaos of the 2008 financial crash.  This experience cemented his belief that mathematical rigor and keen observation could help navigate even the most volatile markets.  For the past two decades, Eric has dedicated himself to leveraging math and science to select top-performing stocks, gauge market risk, and refine portfolio strategies.  At Clear Capital Management, Eric is the advocate for mathematical precision, driving the development of cutting-edge simulation tools and pioneering the firm’s market risk indicator - a cornerstone of their investment approach.

When he’s not unraveling the mysteries of the market, Eric enjoys the warm winters of Gloucester Point, Virginia, with his wife.  A tech enthusiast at heart, he spends his spare time tinkering with computers and building music synthesizers - a nod to his enduring love of music.  Whether he’s crafting soundscapes or investment strategies, Eric’s approach is the same: thoughtful, innovative, and unapologetically rigorous.
