Chief Investment Officer

Calvin Rose

As a Co-Founder of Clear Capital Management, Calvin Rose brings a wealth of expertise to his team.  A born engineer, Calvin spent his childhood dismantling go-carts, boat parts, and loudspeakers only to rebuild them and make them better.  After earning his Master’s of Science Degree in Physics, his early career explored the acoustics of music reproduction and musical instruments.  His work revolved around modeling and measuring the acoustic properties of Steinway pianos for CBS and crafting innovative audio designs for Bose Corporation.

Calvin worked with custody, fund administration, fund accounting, and transfer agency banks such as Bank of New York, State Street, and Brown Brothers Harriman for the Merrill Lynch IQAdvisors fund of funds.  Earlier in his career Calvin worked with firms such as Smith Barney, Dillon Reed, Salomon Brothers, Merrill Lynch, and others to recompile and move their modeling code from the Cray supercomputer platform to less expensive Sun workstations with vectorizing compilers and attached high-speed vector processors.  All the while, Calvin was researching and developing algorithms that he’d soon put into action.

In 2014, Calvin joined forces with Jeff Wesnofske and Eric Rosenfeld to launch Clear Capital Management, where he serves as the mastermind behind portfolio strategy.  For over a decade, he’s guided clients with precision and care, building relationships that span generations.  A natural teacher, Calvin’s passion for educating began in grad school and continues today, as he shares his insights on the intersection of science and money management with clients.
